A picture of your counselor, Kevin!

Only a few years ago, I was a student at Taipei Fuhsing Private School, anxiously preparing my own college applications — just like the students I work with today. Back then, truly helpful college counseling resources were scarce, and the few that existed were far beyond what most students could afford. I navigated the process on my own, and through a mix of hard work, careful research, and a little luck, was thrilled to earn Early Decision round admission to my dream school: Cornell University.

In the months that followed, I began helping my classmates with their applications — revising essays, translating recommendation letters, tutoring for the SAT, and guiding them through the numerous complex financial aid forms — and discovered a passion for helping students get into their dream schools. Hearing each student's story, working together on essay ideas, and witnessing the joy that lights up their faces when they get into their dream schools is an experience that I wouldn't trade the world for.

Along the way, I also learned how demanding and detail-oriented this work is. A great application takes time, empathy, and genuine care. Without truly getting to know a student and understanding their unique experiences, voice, and aspirations, it’s impossible to help them stand out among the piles of applications. Crafting a memorable college application requires not just editing essays, but designing a story that admissions officers will remember. Through my journey to Cornell, I have become intimately familiar with how students stand out from the crowd and land an acceptance to their dream school.

My love for writing and language continued at Cornell, where I studied philosophy and computer science, graduating with Latin honors in 2025. After college, I became a Chinese linguist working closely with the U.S. defense department, deepening my appreciation for clear communication and cross-cultural understanding. Now, I want to use everything I’ve learned — as a student, mentor, and linguist — to help Taiwanese students achieve their goals and experience the same excitement I felt when I got my own acceptance letter.
